Dr. Kathy Raven is board certified in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology and has worked in the area of forensic pathology for over 19 years. She has worked in both coroner offices and medical examiner’s offices. She recently left Alaska where she was the Chief Medical Examiner for the State. She received her forensic pathology training in Seattle, Washington at the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Dr. Raven also did a year of neuropathology training at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Raven has personally performed over 4500 forensic autopsies, and as many external examinations. She has attended numerous death scenes over the course of her tenure as a medical examiner and has extensive experience in court testimony in both criminal and civil cases.
Dr. Raven understands every aspect of death investigation, from the perspective of both detailed analysis of the case and the policies and procedures involved. She understands and has maintained the national stadards regarding death investigation and forensic pathology set by the National Association of Medical Examiners.
Most importantly, Dr. Raven approaches all cases with a neutral unbiased approach, using science and evidence to make opinions and conclusions while maintaining compassion.
